Clutch
Springs are an important part of the consistency of your
racecar. The Driver Springs set your stall speed, which is
the RPM at which your clutch will engage. The weaker the
stall spring the lower your idle speed will have to be. At
Huddleston Performance we tend to run a Purple stall spring
in our 8.90 and slower combinations, and a Green stall spring
in our 7.90 and quicker applications.

The
Driven Springs control how quickly your Driven unit is
allowed to open. The stiffer the spring you run, the slower
the Driven unit can open which slows down the overall
process of the clutch. You can change the shift rate of the
Driven unit by changing springs or tightening the spring
through the holes in your helix. The Red Driven Spring is
the stiffest Driven Spring offered, with the Yellow being a
more traditional choice. We like to use the Red Driven
Spring with our new Multi-Angle Helixes for 7.90 and quicker
cars, and the Yellow Driven Spring with a Multi-Angle Helix
on 8.90 and slower combination.
